Evolent Health drops to $5.18 fair value on 7x leverage and $398M goodwill impairment

Evolent Health faces a shifting investment narrative after analysts reset expectations, with fair value estimates dropping from $8.50 to $5.18. The revision reflects concerns about reserves, leverage and margin visibility. Despite lowered price targets, Oppenheimer, BTIG, UBS, Citi, Truist and Canaccord maintain positive ratings, citing conservative reserving and new contracts as potential margin support. Analysts view new CFO Mario Ramos as bringing increased transparency. However, KeyBanc downgraded to Sector Weight, highlighting leverage at approximately 7x and limited EBITDA recovery visibility. Multiple firms reduced 2026-2028 earnings assumptions amid medical cost pressures and ACA exchange membership concerns. Evolent recorded a $398 million goodwill impairment for Q4 2025 and issued 2026 revenue guidance of $2.4 billion to $2.6 billion.
