- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NCMA) from an accredited program is required.
- Proficiency in obtaining vital signs, administering injections, performing phlebotomy, and completing basic procedures is required.
- Comfort with electronic health record systems is required.
- Greet and prepare patients, take medical histories, and escort them to exam rooms.
- Obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation, and update patient records.
- Collect blood, urine, and swab specimens and label them properly.
- Assist the Nurse Practitioner during examinations and procedures, including vaccinations, blood draws, and electrocardiograms.
- Clean and stock exam rooms and maintain inventory and equipment.
- Educate patients and families about medications, preventive care, and self-management.
- Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, billing support, phone triage, and paperwork maintenance.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
- At least one year of clinical experience is preferred.
- Primary care or rural clinic experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, empathy, and customer-service skills are desirable.
