Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Certified and maintain certification in sterile processing as CRCST-HSPA or CBSPD
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in sterile processing
  • Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment
  • Leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Travel may be required
  • Holiday work and emergency management/disaster teamwork required
  • If expectations are not met, individual will be demoted with pay reduction
  • Ability to perform physical requirements as detailed (see physical requirements)
  • Ability to work in latex safe environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Must pass internal department exam and requirement for the position
  • Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes
  • Selected positions may require respirator qualification
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes
Responsibilities
  • Manage the reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation including disassembly, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, and sterilization
  • Care for and operate ultrasonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and other equipment
  • Complete quality monitoring and documentation
  • Perform quality assurance activities
  • Be responsible for supply inventory management and clinic instrument rounds
  • Mentor, train, coach, and role model for new Sterile Processing Technicians
  • Serve as leader for the department to promote teamwork within the department and with other departments
  • Perform all duties with a commitment to excellence in quality and customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Possess leadership, supervisory or management experience to assume supervisory role in absence or across locations
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification preferred
  • Leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory or management experience in Sterile Processing preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills preferred
  • Any additional certifications relevant to sterile processing preferred
