What Hudson River Trading does: It uses computer-based trading to buy and sell financial instruments for institutional clients, using its own private algorithms and fast computers to trade in global markets. How its products work: The firm designs mathematical models and software that scan market data and place many trades in milliseconds. It aims to earn small profits on a huge number of trades by moving quickly and reacting to price changes across asset classes worldwide. How it differs from competitors: HRT relies on in-depth research and proprietary algorithms, large-scale computing, and a global network of offices to trade across many markets. This combination helps it stay competitive against other high-frequency trading firms and banks. What its goal is: To generate reliable revenue by executing a high volume of fast trades while continually improving its models and technology through ongoing research and development.

AI networking startup Eridu emerges from stealth with $200M Series A

AI networking startup Eridu has emerged from stealth with a $200 million Series A round led by Socratic Partners, John Doerr, Matter Venture Partners and others, bringing total funding to $230 million. The oversubscribed round values the company comparably to other large Series A deals, though CEO Drew Perkins declined to confirm unicorn status. Founded in 2024 by networking veterans Drew Perkins and Omar Hassen, Eridu is developing new silicon and systems designed specifically for AI data centres. The company aims to replace traditional tiered optical connections with on-chip communications, reducing latency and power consumption whilst improving reliability. Perkins previously co-founded Lightera Networks, Infinera and Gainspeed, companies that collectively generated over $2.7 billion in exits. Other investors include Hudson River Trading, Capricorn Investment Group, TSMC's VentureTech Alliance and MediaTek.

Alphacution Press: Hudson River Mints Billions In the Shadow of Jane Street and Citadel Securities

Alphacution Press: Hudson River mints billions in the shadow of Jane Street and Citadel Securities. December 2nd, 2025 | Press Alphacution quoted in Bloomberg's December 1, 2025 article ($) by Katherine Doherty on how, apparently, Hudson River Trading is competing with the likes of Jane Street and Citadel Securities by slowing its trading down, among other explorations, such as options trading. "The biggest and the best prop firms, the ones making all the waves and money, are huge in options," said Paul Rowady, founder and director of research at Alphacution. "HRT hasn't traded options to the same scale. They realize the opportunity."
