Axios CEO Jim VandeHei told staff the company aims to become "the most useful news organisation in America" through AI adoption, describing the effort as a "moonshot" in a Friday memo. He said Axios ranks in the top 5% of companies its size for AI use outside Silicon Valley, with "productivity way up" whilst keeping journalism human-centred. The memo followed recent layoffs of 11 newsroom staff as Axios automates tasks. VandeHei acknowledged AI would "cost or change" some jobs, noting the product and tech team now does "twice the work with half the size" due to automation. That team cut 19 positions in November. VandeHei said Axios would increase investment in subject matter expertise and high-quality journalism. The company signed a content licensing deal with OpenAI last year and is discussing similar agreements with other AI firms.

Shouldn’t we have figured this out by now?Why Is Effective Communication Still So Challenging In The Workplace? gettyWhy Is Effective Communication Still So Challenging In The Workplace?Part of the problem is the assumption that knowing what good communication looks like is the same as doing it. It’s not
