Requirements
  • An Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology
  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying agency (NCA)
  • If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Supports high quality Point of Care Testing (POCT) testing at the point of service
  • Point of Care Testing (POCT) SOP development and regulatory compliance
  • Performing training and competency assessment of clinical services personnel
  • Performs quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, evaluations and correlations of POCT instrumentation
  • Reviews and evaluates POCT data and patient results for acceptability; resolves aberrant data and results
  • Effective communication skills; model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities
  • Routinely rounds on customers to ensure needs are met
  • Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures
  • Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures
  • Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Records lab results in specified system
  • Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
