Requirements
  • Must possess current Radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided.
  • MD: Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of Physicians
  • OH: Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of Radiology
  • PA: No state license is required
  • WV: Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
  • State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
  • One (1) year experience as a CV interventional radiologic technologist and/or interventional radiologic technologist.
  • One additional certification through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI); Cardiovascular Interventional (CV); Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
  • One additional certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS); Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
Responsibilities
  • Monitors and interprets Hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Maintains all competencies yearly by participating in Validations in Practice.
  • Participates in Inventory Management of the department.
  • Checks and prepares patient prior to procedure.
  • Maintains radiation safety.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies necessary for physicians and other lab personnel involved to scrub and enter the lab without infraction 100% of the time.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of the patient and unit information, without infraction, as monitored by supervision.
  • Prepares entry site applicable to the procedure using sterile technique and three areas of specialization.
  • Continuously monitors patient’s ECG and blood pressure while documenting and advising the physician of any and all activity in an accurate and timely manner and providing documentation that will become part of the patient’s permanent record.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures 24 hours a day.
  • Acts as the laboratory’s code team by initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators under the direct supervision of the physician in charge.
  • Correctly documents all procedures performed in three areas of specialization as defined by the department and utilizes the inventory control system that is established. Correctly bills for all procedures.
  • Participates in educational and in-service opportunities to maintain three areas of specialization.
  • Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting with regard to patient positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment and the use of accessory devices to obtain Radiographic images.
  • Supports the development of level I Technologists.
  • Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Obtain Dysthymia course certification through WVU Medicine within one year of hire.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
