Requirements
  • MD Degree in Medicine OR D.O. Degree in Medicine
  • 1 year Experience as M.D. or D.O.
  • Ability to provide diagnostic treatment and counseling services
  • Proficient in general radiology techniques, including X-ray, MRI, and ultrasound
  • Ability to analyze situations and take effective action
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with supervisors, physicians, nurses, other staff, students, patients and their families
  • Possess a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism
  • Current valid license/certification to practice medicine in the state of California
  • Specialty Certification by The American Board of Radiology, in radiology and/or a subspecialty such as nuclear medicine, therapeutic radiology, or interventional radiology
  • DEA Certificate
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if no card upon hire must be obtained within 30 days and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only)
Responsibilities
  • Performs medical assessments of patients and diagnoses and treats injuries and diseases using medical imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, PET and ultrasound
  • Establishes and monitors a medically appropriate level of care for patients
  • Stresses health education and preventive medical care where appropriate
  • Obtains complete or focused medical histories from patients and performs appropriate physical examinations
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and prepares reports as needed
  • Devises diagnostic treatment plans to address patients’ medical needs
  • Orders laboratory and radiologic tests
  • Interprets laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, etc. tests
  • Prescribes and administers medications, vaccines, and other treatments as needed
  • Interprets and reports on resulting images, recommending treatment and additional tests when appropriate
  • Acts as an expert consultant to referring physician by providing assistance of proper exam and directing radiology technologists in properly performing quality exams
  • Identifies unstable or high level of care patients and makes arrangements for transfer to appropriate facilities
  • Refers patients for medical and/or other treatment when appropriate
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory, legal, and departmental requirements including documentation per JCAHO and accrediting agencies
  • Maintains professional affiliations, licenses, certifications, etc. Stays current on developments in medicine
  • Attends and participates in patient care meetings, clinic meetings, and other events as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
