We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization of one of our clients in the healthcare technology industry. The Director of Engineering will play a key role in spearheading the replatforming of the company’s systems, setting up technology for future growth, and driving engineering excellence across the organization.

As the Director of Engineer for our client, you will be responsible for leading a team of talented engineers in designing, building, and maintaining a high-performance platform. You will oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment, and ensure that the team delivers high-quality products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand the business and user needs, provide technical leadership, and make strategic decisions on architecture, tools, and processes. 

Your day-to-day

Reporting to our Managing Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for building a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence within Able and the organization, while leading teams delivering complex technology solutions.

• Defining and implementing technical visionWe need someone who can sit at the intersection of business and technology to help codify how we work, our technical focus, how we measure success, and our growth agenda, to always be improving.
• Growing and nurturing teamsYou will be leading a team of 30+ talented engineers, consisting of both in-house and client resources. As we continue to grow, we need an empathetic leader who can inspire the team with a unifying vision for craft, collaboration, and value.
• Providing cultural and operational leadershipThis person will be an essential member of Able’s leadership team and will contribute to the strategic development of Able overall, while representing our values to our team and our partners.

What you bring

The ideal candidate is someone who has a track record of:

• Technical expertiseYou have deep experience hands-on as an engineer as well as leading high-functioning engineering organizations. Ideally in digital agency as well as technical product company settings. You are equally comfortable reviewing code or having technical discussions with a CTO as you are presenting to non-technical executive stakeholders.

Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills are a requirement for this position.  

This position is 100% remote.  We are looking for a Director who can commit to at least five (5) hours of overlap with our main team’s working hours (generally between 9am and 6pm EST / GMT-5 / New York Time).
