Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in communication, engineering technology, or a related field is required.
  • At least three years of experience working as a trainer, developing technical documents, or working with Quality Management Systems in an industrial setting, or an equivalent combination, is required.
  • Technical competence to learn new utility systems and equipment is required.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals is required.
  • Excellent technical writing ability and the ability to organize information concisely and understandably are required.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort with public speaking are required.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing is required.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, update, audit, co-facilitate, and train on plant-wide instructions and programs, including the Standard Operating Procedure program, safety program, Lock-Tag-Verify program, qualification programs, tabletop exercises, the Central Energy Plant long-range training program, operations bulletins, newsletters, information archiving, data collection, change management processes, and action item lists.
  • Administer the Utility Quality Management System.
  • Help develop key performance indicators.
  • Support and lead facility tours.
  • Learn utility systems and equipment through manuals, manufacturer contact, field inspection, and collaboration with other staff.
  • Attend staff development trainings and participate in the performance evaluation process.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in a utility plant producing steam, electricity, or chilled water.
  • Experience developing training materials and writing programmatic instructions from scratch.
  • Experience with graphic or video editing.
