Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Staff Software Test Engineer to join its growing Software Test Team. Working closely with the Integration and Automation team, this critical team member will play a crucial role in driving test development efforts for the software that controls our novel surgical robot, for which we are in aggressive product development mode.

As a Staff Test Engineer on this team, you will develop and execute manual and automated test procedures for our surgical robot system. You will work in a diverse team of software engineers in an agile development environment reviewing requirements, user stories and developing and executing acceptance tests for those requirements and documenting results.

Responsibilities 

• Developing test scenarios, test protocols and test scripts. 
• Executing manual and automated software test procedures to verify requirements.
• Identifying the tests for Manual and Automated testing and plan the overall test and regression suite. 
• Participate in requirements review for testability.
• Implement continuous testing during Sprint and regression testing (if manual) at appropriate milestones during development. 
• Report defects, tracking re-verification and closing. 
• Plan and Perform formal software V & V testing during the V & V phase. 
• Support early testing and assist scrum teams in determining key findings and collaborate to enhance the overall system’s design.
• Develop verification and validation of test tools where required and in advance of formal DV schedules.
• Support technical reviews and participate in system design reviews.
• Participate and own the development of testing infrastructure for Manual as well Automated Tests.

About You 

• Bachelors or equivalent in any scientific or technical field. 
• 8 + years of experience in software testing of complex electromechanical device in the medical device industry.
• Strong command over IEC62304 and excellent familiarity with TIR45.
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to mentor newer or junior team members.
• Positive can-do demeanor and inculcates the same with other team members.
• Ability to work very well with geographically distributed teams and can work with teams from a very diverse background.
• Has worked in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with C/C++/Python.
• Prior experience testing robotic software systems within the medical/surgical robotics space.
• Experience with test management tools like Jama or similar.
• Previous verification or validation experience in medical device projects from early development through commercialization.
