Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and at least six months of experience working in a hospital setting are required.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within the first two weeks of hire and maintained thereafter through an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider certification.
- The employee must be able to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
- The employee must be able to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching, repetitive hand and upper-extremity movements, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force and assist with patient transfers and movement of stretchers or wheelchairs.
- The employee must maintain the specified corrected vision, color discrimination, depth perception, peripheral vision, hearing, and tactile sensory capabilities.
- The employee must be able to work indoors, in temperature extremes, at elevated areas, and in confined or cramped spaces.
- The employee must be able to work in a latex-safe environment and, where applicable, maintain olfactory sensory function and qualify physically for respirator use.
- The employee must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel, assist in providing direct patient care.
- Perform tasks required for daily operating-room unit functions.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized allied health course or six months of patient care experience in a health care setting is preferred.
