Role overview:
Full Stack Video Engineers at Gather contribute across the stack, from building new UI elements and frontend features, to making contributions to the open source video server software we use. One day they’ll be digging into server logs to figure out why a user couldn’t receive video, and the next they’ll create a new interface for meeting recording. They’ve always got an eye out for how we can make Gather better for everyone, and jump in wherever it’s needed.
Where you will make an impact:
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to scope out features and product directions
- Solve video issues wherever they crop up, from connection failures to background blur causing videos to flicker
- Implement experience-elevating audio and video features like background noise cancellation and live transcription
- Build new tools and metrics to help us understand the end user better
- Write maintainable, clear, well-architected code, tests, and documentation
- Participate in code reviews and design reviews to ensure quality and good architecture
- Help our video client adapt to rapidly changing resource constraints
What you bring:
- Experience working with Typescript, React, and Redux
- A passion for reliability and the drive to solve difficult problems without guidance
- A keen intuition for well designed software and beautiful, usable interfaces
- Ability to ruthlessly prioritize in a chaotic and ambiguous environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
US Salary Range
At Gather, compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $162,000 - $180,000 annually and we encourage candidates outside of this salary range to apply.
Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for a stock reward program.
