Ryan Specialty is a leading Managing General Underwriter (MGU) that develops industry-specific insurance programs and provides specialized underwriting services on behalf of high-quality carrier and syndicate partners. Ryan Specialty has developed, and is the underwriting manager for, niche-programs across three divisions – Property, Casualty and M&A Insurance.
What will your job entail?
Responsibilities:
- Support all steps of the underwriting process in conjunction with the underwriting operations function
- Liaise with Underwriters, Brokers and Reinsurers as needed to communicate account status and complete outstanding subjectivities.
- Liaise with Underwriters to confirm policy issuance instructions for policies, endorsements, forms, notices, certificates, etc., and effectively complete coding/issuance.
- Assist with new and renewal business life cycle work such as submission preparation, rating, referral prep, quoting, binding all the way through to policy issuance and endorsements within assigned authority.
- In-depth renewal preparation
- Work with internal operations partners to ensure that service standards are being met.
- Ensuring all parts of the Underwriting workflow are completed both accurately and on time
- Assist underwriters processing new business submissions and rating sheets
- Assist with other projects supporting the Underwriting team as required.
Requirements:
- 2 plus years’ experience in a related field.
- Experience in the insurance industry and Lines of Business a plus
- A willingness to learn and a “can do” attitude
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team, interact with others, meet deadlines, and successfully perform in a changing, fast paced work environment
- Ability to build relationships across all business functions
- Serves as a point of contact for internal and external business partners on account related matters and demonstrate a high level of customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Desire to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
Prescribed: Minimum requirements for state P&C and/or surplus line licenses.
Preferred: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)

The target salary range for this position is $68,200.00 - $89,512.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
