Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead global intellectual-property enforcement, including maintaining watch notices and an evidence bank.
  • Develop, implement, and manage global brand-protection and enforcement strategies, including domain and cyber enforcement.
  • Coordinate enforcement matters with internal legal and business stakeholders.
  • Assist the domain-name manager with trademark domain-registration strategy in major generic and country-code top-level domains.
  • Manage the preliminary global trademark search and clearance process for new trademarks.
  • Conduct online trademark searches, investigate and analyze results, and provide clearance opinions to the business under the supervision of global intellectual-property counsel.
  • Review and approve regional hotel names involving intellectual-property implications in consultation with global intellectual-property counsel.
  • Serve as lead manager for the Anaqua database, including facilitating Global IP team training and utilization.
  • Track and report global brand-protection and enforcement activities using Anaqua.
  • Manage United States copyright filings and maintain the company’s remaining patent portfolio.
  • Manage the company copyright-compliance process in conjunction with global intellectual-property counsel.
  • Maintain the company’s Proper Use of IP guidelines for third parties.
  • Manage first-line communications and investigations for defensive actions when the company is accused of trademark or copyright infringement by third parties.
