Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an internal and external customer-service orientation.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
  • Develop processes and procedures for high-complexity assemblies to meet customer requirements.
  • Design tools, jigs, and fixtures for electromechanical assembly processes.
  • Lead validation and verification of new production tooling and fixturing.
  • Evaluate, commission, qualify, and optimize new automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Define optimal preventive maintenance for equipment and establish new procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues with internal and external support to minimize production downtime.
  • Collect manufacturing data, analyze it, and drive actions based on the results.
  • Disposition nonconforming products and lead root-cause and corrective actions.
  • Use Design of Experiments to establish new processes and improve existing processes.
  • Engage with customers in technical discussions and support technical inquiries and requests.
  • Drive Design for X using data from process development, new-product-introduction builds, and the internal knowledge base.
  • Ensure customer and regulatory requirements are met throughout Vanguard processes.
  • Create, coordinate, review, and approve internal product documentation.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis or equivalent tools.
  • Support production technicians and operators in resolving issues.
  • Lead and support process-improvement efforts with the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • An existing Secret-level clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain one.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience with medium- to high-volume electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with equipment and facility layout for optimized product throughput.
  • Experience with automated polymer-dispense equipment and applications.
  • High proficiency in part constraints, dimensioning, tolerancing, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in designing tools and fixtures.
  • Experience selecting and qualifying new automated or capital equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of equipment and process qualification using Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification or similar methods.
  • Experience setting up and executing Design of Experiments.
  • Deep understanding of Statistical Process Control and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Understanding of material science as it relates to material selection for products and tooling.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 certified quality-management system.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-600, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20.
  • Proficiency in business systems such as Manufacturing Execution Systems, Product Lifecycle Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, and Material Review Board systems.
