Position Overview
FT.com is the award-winning website of the Financial Times, providing the gold standard in global business news and information. FT.com’s innovative business model has made it one of the world’s most successful digital news operations, with over 1m paid subscribers. We believe in knowing our readers and advertisers and that is reflected in everything we do.
The role sits within the Commercial Product team, specifically the ownership of how our products and platforms work together across FT Group digital platforms. As part of the wider digital advertising operations team, it is the Commercial Product team’s remit to support the development of new and innovative advertising products, tech integrations and vendor management, and liaise with teams to support internal workflows. The team’s goal is to bring value to the business through improving the FT’s ability to deliver marketing objectives for advertising clients.
The Platform & Product Director will be responsible for the ownership and integration of the FT’s products and platforms. Reporting into the Commercial Performance & Technology Director, the product and platforms team will be responsible for ensuring that advertisers have a seamless experience via ‘best in class’ marketing solutions.
Responsibilities

Management of the Ad Platforms and Product teams, and support the Commercial Performance & Technology Director on key transformational projects.

Creating and delivering a robust strategy for aligning and integrating our products and platforms, with a focus on driving the long term digital advertising growth. This includes but isn’t limited to:

Prioritising development tasks with our key P&T teams, such as Ads & Privacy and Spark (branded Content publishing).

Management of product portfolio, ensuring that they are both technically and commercially aligned, and making cases for further investment when needed.

Full ownership of all our Ad Platform vendors, ensuring that they are working towards our commercial goals.

Reviewing supply and demand regularly, ensuring that the FT is set up to:

Creation of business cases for key funding dates, ensuring that the team is resourced to achieve the department’s goals.

Taking a leadership role within the Digital Ad Operations team, encouraging all team members to take an integrated mindset when approaching projects or campaigns.

Ensure the requirements of key stakeholders for each project are captured and achieved. This will include Sales, Operations, Advertisers and Media agencies depending on the project.

Work closely with BI, delivery and CRM teams to help translate product ideas into workflow solutions that are efficient.

Analysing trends, new ad-tech and research studies within the media landscape to ensure that the FT is taking advantage of new opportunities.
Skills

Working in an agile, iterative manner.

Excellent presentation and analysis skills.

Proven experience of building business cases.

Proven experience of product testing.

Knowledge of marketing and media industry metrics and systems, including digital media and web analytics (e.g. DFP, DCM, Web Analytics).

Good skills of using PowerPoint and being able to visualise data for business decisions.

Proactive and always looking for ways to constantly improve advertising performance.

Knowledge of Online Marketing, an advantage, or willingness and ability to learn quickly.

Exceptional time management and organisation skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Excellent attention to detail and takes pride in high quality output.

Ability to present analytical projects to a non-analytical audience.
