Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance or engineering, including mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and general repairs in a hotel, resort, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and mechanical repairs.
  • Skill in troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, lighting fixtures, motors, pumps, and HVAC equipment.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and performing timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures and maintaining accurate maintenance logs.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Skill in using hand and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors, vendors, and other departments.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond quickly to emergency maintenance issues.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer skills for logging maintenance work and managing work orders.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with department uniform guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Perform general building maintenance, including repairs, painting, and upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures, bulbs, and electrical wiring.
  • Inspect and test machinery and equipment by diagnosing issues through unusual sounds and observed operations.
  • Repair and replace defective machinery parts to restore functionality.
  • Assist with delivery and installation of new equipment, including televisions, mattresses, and furniture.
  • Maintain the hotel's physical structure, including walls, floors, doors, and windows.
  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and systems and document activities in maintenance logs.
  • Respond to guest and departmental maintenance requests.
  • Communicate with maintenance supervisors and management regarding projects, repairs, and safety issues.
  • Participate in training sessions on safety protocols and company standards.
  • Follow safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to support hotel operations.
  • Respond to emergencies such as fires and power outages.
  • Perform additional maintenance and hotel-operations duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Perform related tasks as needed to provide guest service.
