Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ of relevant experience within institutional asset management or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience within institutional client-facing roles or investment consulting/advisory, with a track record of building strong client relationships and being viewed as a “trusted advisor” preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with investment related topics to sophisticated institutional clients both in written work and presentations to various audiences (management, senior executives, Investment Committees, etc.).
  • Strong intellectual ability and interpersonal skills to establish his/her credibility with clients and the senior leaders throughout the organization.
  • In depth knowledge of institutional investment issues and trends within Canada and globally.
  • Strong proficiency across a wide range of traditional and alternative investment products, and board knowledge of investment performance and risk concepts is required.
  • Technical skills must include a strong background and advanced knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Experience with other applications including project management tools would also be considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve team goals within a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Exceptional work ethic and strong attention to detail, with the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse internal teams and within a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to change directions quickly.
Responsibilities
  • Lead client relationships and ensure superior client service and engagement. Accountable to the end-to-end client experience across all IMCO services and capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of IMCO's range of investment advisory, investment management and operational offerings and solutions, while also staying on top of market developments to clearly and concisely articulate market views, strategy characteristics and performance to institutional clients including senior management teams and Boards and related governance committees.
  • Prepare and lead client meeting discussions and presentations on various investment topics including investment performance, investment strategy updates and risk reporting., while proactively developing solutions to meet client needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Foster strong relationships with IMCO Investment teams and other internal partners to coordinate, create workplans and prepare high-quality client materials related to strategic asset allocation advisory and related services.
  • Actively contribute to IMCO strategic initiatives, offering client-focused perspectives and input on various internal projects that serve to support the growth of IMCO as a best-in-class asset manager.
  • Prepare and deliver materials for client engagement on client experience updates and/or strategic initiatives, where needed.
  • Conducting research, conceptualizing and preparing materials to highlight IMCO capabilities and sharing information and updates with clients on investment strategies and other relevant content. This may be utilized for client knowledge sessions, client events or webcasts, e-communications or other forums that support enhancing client engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with partners within IMCO to solve potentially complex client issues and challenges that may arise.
  • Collaboratively work within the Client Relationship Management team to establish long-standing trusted advisor partnerships with IMCO’s institutional clients.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the team’s overall development.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to colleagues and project teams, ensuring high standards of service throughout project delivery.
Desired Qualifications
  • Investments industry-related designations such as CFA, FRM, CIPM, CAIA etc. are considered an asset.
