Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Counselor Education, Counseling, a Psychology-related program, or a related field.
  • Three years of work-related experience.
  • A Wyoming State Counselor License may be required for some positions.
  • A valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record compliant with the University of Wyoming's Driving for University Business SAP.
  • Applicants must provide the average hours worked per week for all current and previous positions.
  • Applicants must complete the online application and submit a cover letter, resume or curriculum vitae, and contact information for four work-related references.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship for work authorization or work visas is not available.
Responsibilities
  • Provide academic, personal, and/or career advising to students.
  • Provide special programs to student groups, classes, parents, and others through workshops, orientations, and other formats.
  • Write, edit, or select informational materials for the assigned program.
  • Assist with the assignment of faculty advisors when required.
  • Conduct advisement training seminars for faculty advisors when required.
  • Advise undecided, probationary, conditionally admitted, suspended, or reinstated students to help identify and overcome academic difficulties when required.
  • Conduct follow-up sessions with students when required.
  • Review and approve student forms as directed.
  • Evaluate transcripts and perform degree checks as directed.
  • Instruct students in the use of online resources for academic and career information.
  • Explain University of Wyoming programs of study and resources.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems and deal with difficult situations and people.
  • Coordinate sections of the University Studies course when required.
  • Plan and teach one section of the University Studies course annually when required.
  • Keep up to date on University and College policies and regulations pertaining to degree requirements when required.
  • Assist with special projects as directed.
  • Serve on committees as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
