Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the liaison for career and residency placement for College of Osteopathic Medicine students.
  • Provide direction, support, guidance, and primary-resource services to students for the residency application process, including curricula vitae, personal statements, and applications.
  • Provide system support and training to faculty and leadership serving as academic advisors.
  • Provide career and residency counseling and ensure resources are available and accessible to College of Osteopathic Medicine students in years I through IV.
  • Conduct individual meetings, group presentations, and workshops on topics relevant to graduate medical education.
  • Maintain expertise in residency application systems and residency match programs by monitoring updates and changes.
  • Implement and oversee Careers in Medicine and Big Interview Medical access, training, and usage, integrating assessments and interview preparation into career counseling.
  • Engage with student specialty-interest groups to collaborate on specialty-specific programming.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, match-related data and process reviews, professional publications, networking, and benchmarking.
  • Monitor deadlines, collect data, send reminders, and resolve problems.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the College of Osteopathic Medicine career and residency placement advising process.
  • Provide guidance on Medical Student Performance Evaluation content and related issues for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Draft and finalize the Medical Student Performance Evaluation and its addendum.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of sensitive information and documentation in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to university ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and perform additional assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education, advising, counseling, or teaching students is preferred.
  • Experience in undergraduate medical education or graduate medical education is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of residency application and match processes, including timelines, is preferred.
  • The ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with diverse individuals is preferred.
