View

HBK is formed from the merger of HBM and Brüel & Kjær to cover the full product physics domain. It provides testing, data collection, and analysis across sound, vibration, reliability, durability, propulsion efficiency, and weighing. Brüel & Kjær focuses on the frequency domain (sound and vibration) while HBM specializes in the time domain (reliability, durability, propulsion efficiency, weighing). HBK helps customers by running tests in multiple domains at once, collecting data, analyzing it, and supporting faster, data-driven decisions to bring products to market sooner.

What believers are saying

  • 12-channel module availability captures aerospace and defense market demand for scalable, high-channel-count systems.
  • Modular upgrade path creates recurring revenue through incremental expansion rather than forcing customer replacement cycles.
  • openDAQ compliance and BK Connect integration position HBK as platform provider, enabling ecosystem lock-in.

What critics are saying

  • Backwards compatibility eliminates replacement urgency, stalling LAN-XI installed base migration and revenue growth.
  • Modular architecture and intuitive interface lack differentiation against National Instruments, Siemens, and Keysight ecosystems.
  • Aerospace and defense sector concentration exposes revenue to defense budget cuts and major OEM consolidation.

What makes Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer (HBK) unique

  • Fusion-LN's backwards compatibility with LAN-XI enables seamless modular expansion without full system replacement.
  • Doubled bandwidth per module versus LAN-XI supports higher sample rates or increased channel counts simultaneously.
  • Single LAN cable with Power over Ethernet and Precision Time Protocol simplifies distributed measurement deployment.

The next generation in sound and vibration data acquisition.

The next generation in sound and vibration data acquisition. 18/03/2026 HBK - Hottinger, Bruel & Kjaer Designed to meet the evolving needs of engineers and researchers, Hottinger Brüel & Kjær's (HBK) latest innovation in sound and vibration measurement - Fusion-LN - has expanded its product line with a 12-channel module, which is available now for delivery. Fusion-LN introduces a streamlined approach to data acquisition, supporting applications across aerospace and defence, telecom, audio, industrial, and automotive sectors. Its modular design and intuitive interface enable users to adapt quickly to changing test requirements without compromising accuracy or reliability. A key function is that owners of HBK's LAN-XI data acquisition tool can preserve current capabilities and past investments, as Fusion-LN has backwards compatibility with LAN-XI. Operators are now also able to place Fusion-LN modules - combined with LAN-XI modules - in the same frame, which provides a seamless upgrade and allows them to expand their system, instead of replacing it. As industries face increasing demands for precision and efficiency, Fusion-LN provides engineers with a platform to simplify complex measurement tasks, while ensuring scalability for their future challenges.
