Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
  • The employee must be able to communicate professionally and courteously with patients and clinic staff.
  • The employee must be able to sit for at least one hour at a time and stand and walk for up to 20 minutes at a time.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, squat, kneel, and assist patients with transfers.
  • The employee must be able to use a computer and keyboard for extended periods and type and communicate verbally with patients and coworkers.
  • The employee must occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and maneuver medical products, supplies, equipment, and materials that may weigh over 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to assist with patient transfers, including supporting elderly, incapacitated, frail, and wheelchair-bound patients.
  • The employee must be able to handle and position radiograph cassette sensors and assist with foot positioning.
  • The employee must be able to hold limbs in position during casting and bandage application.
  • The employee must be able to process, clean, package, and sterilize instruments while maintaining concentration and dexterity.
  • The employee must be able to prepare sterile trays and maintain sterility during procedures.
  • The employee must accurately draw and measure medications and prevent incorrect medication delivery.
  • The employee must accurately capture and record patient complaints, medical histories, medication lists, and vital signs in electronic charts.
  • The employee must comply with organizational policies, procedures, code of conduct, compliance training, and timely issue reporting.
Responsibilities
  • Order, sort, store, and restock medical supplies and examination rooms.
  • Clean examination areas, prepare instruments and equipment, and clean the sterilizer.
  • Greet patients, answer office phones, perform data entry, schedule appointments, assist front-office staff, and manually verify insurance.
  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical history in Epic.
  • Escort patients to and from examination rooms.
  • Schedule surgeries by coordinating with surgical centers, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission forms, and consent forms.
  • Assist the physician with procedures.
  • Administer patient injections as directed by the physician.
  • Cast for orthotics and apply below-knee casts, low-dye strapping, and Unna boots.
  • Perform nail, callus, and corn debridement under physician supervision.
  • Perform dressing changes and X-rays.
  • Document phone calls, return patient messages, and complete in-baskets.
  • Update logs.
  • Unpack and distribute deliveries of medical products and supplies to appropriate storage locations.
  • Retrieve and assemble materials for custom foot orthoses and move casting basins to the casting suite.
  • Assist with radiographs by positioning patients' feet and inserting and repositioning digital radiograph sensors.
  • Assist patients on and off treatment chairs, move limbs, and remove and replace shoes and boots.
  • Prepare, assist with, and clean up podiatric procedures, including passing medications, cutting sutures, performing saline flushes, retrieving specimens, and applying bandages.
  • Perform routine nail debridements using manual instrumentation and motorized grinders, then cleanse debris and replace patients' socks and shoes.
  • Retrieve and deliver medications to treatment rooms, including lidocaine, marcaine, and cantharone.
  • Bring patients from the waiting room to treatment rooms, assist them into chairs, take vital signs, and enter clinical information into electronic charts.
  • Maintain back-office inventory and replenish supplies.
  • Clean examination chairs, counters, cabinets, and touched items with sanitizer after patient visits.
  • Remove and replace trash bags and transport collected trash to the on-site dumpster.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience is preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Epic is preferred.
