Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • General knowledge of building systems and an understanding of how building control systems are integrated with these systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems due to unstable operations or equipment failure and remedy the problem via equipment replacement and/or modifying PLC loop tuning parameters and/or programming to improve system performance
  • Ability to use Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams documents to properly design, install and commission a variety of equipment used to operate and control building utility systems
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
  • For Facilities Control Engineer I: At least two years' experience in control systems engineering, design and construction
  • For Facilities Control Engineer II: More than two years' experience in control systems engineering, design and construction
Responsibilities
  • Design, install and operate PLC controllers and field instruments to include PLC programming, installation and calibration of various types of instruments for continuous operation and accurate and reliable data collection of various building utility systems
  • Troubleshoot control systems due to unstable operations or equipment failure and remedy the problem via equipment replacement and/or modifying PLC loop tuning parameters and/or programming to improve system performance
  • Use Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams documents to properly design, install and commission a variety of equipment used to operate and control building utility systems
  • Provide oversight of the building control systems with a focus on safety, operational reliability and security
  • Other related functions as assigned

  • Ability to develop and update Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, Sequence of Operations, I/O lists, panel drawings and instrumentations lists
