Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computational Chemistry, or related quantitative fields with 3-5+ years of professional web development experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing scientific web applications using Java (a plus if you’ve worked with Java Spring Boot)
  • Extensive experience with database technologies, (e.g., PostgreSQL, OpenSearch).
  • Experience with REST API design and service layer architecture.
  • Experience with virtual private cloud deployments and multi-environment system architecture.
  • Experience with Cheminformatics or knowledge of Chemistry a plus
  • Familiarity with job scheduling using SLURM is a plus.
  • Experience with computer-aided drug design and physics-based simulation is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our backend, utilizing Java Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and Python.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and a global, multidisciplinary team to develop and maintain clean, robust code for a leading computational drug discovery platform, with cross-time-zone cooperation as a key pillar.
  • Discuss and make technical design and architecture decisions utilizing tools like UML for clear and consistent design across teams.
  • Review code developed by team members and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Ensure long-term maintainability and consistent performance of deployed software through the creation and upkeep of automated tests.
  • Design and deploy scalable systems across multiple environments, both on-premise and cloud.
  • Develop and optimize database schemas, queries, and data pipelines to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and other technical issues across the backend systems.
