  • 5+ years of experience in platform, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure engineering roles
  • Deep experience designing modular, reusable Terraform code, with a strong grasp of IaC patterns
  • Strong AWS knowledge across key services (e.g., IAM, VPC, ECS, EKS, EC2, KMS, etc.)
  • Proven ability to build and maintain secure, automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • A pragmatic mindset — you care about elegant solutions, but not at the cost of delivery
  • A strong belief in automation, DRY code, and version-controlled infrastructure
  • Comfort collaborating across diverse teams and working directly with developers
  • An understanding of governance, compliance, and auditable infrastructure
Responsibilities
  • Build the Framework: Design and maintain reusable, secure, and DRY infrastructure modules using Terraform
  • Evolve CI/CD: Engineer and evolve CI/CD pipeline frameworks in GitHub Actions that integrate automated testing, security scanning (with Snyk), and deployment workflows
  • Reduce Friction: Define and implement standards and tooling that make it easy for developers to adopt infrastructure and pipelines without friction
  • Architect for Reliability & Cost: Design resilient, highly available, and cost-effective infrastructure patterns, promoting best practices for cloud utilization
  • Enable Observability: Ensure all infrastructure and pipelines emit the right telemetry for downstream monitoring by our SRE/Observability team
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with application developers, SRE, security, and operations engineers to ensure best practices are built into the platform from the start
  • Document for Empowerment: Create high-quality documentation for all frameworks and modules to enable developer self-service
  • Mentor and Collaborate: Mentor a junior engineer and work closely with the Platform Lead on architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy
Desired Qualifications
  • Bonus Skills: Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service developer infrastructure
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to other IaC tools (CloudFormation, Pulumi, CDK) or wrappers like Terragrunt

GFL to acquire Secure Waste for $6.4B, adding 80+ facilities across Western Canada

GFL Environmental has agreed to acquire Secure Waste Infrastructure for $6.4 billion, expanding its presence in Western Canada and North Dakota. The deal includes over 80 locations comprising 12 landfills, 55 waste treatment facilities, 12 recycling facilities, 98 injection wells and five transfer stations. Secure shareholders can choose $24.75 in cash, 0.4195 GFL subordinate voting shares, or a combination for each share held. Cash payments are capped at 20% of the total consideration, with GFL shares limited to 80%. GFL founder and CEO Patrick Dovigi said the acquisition will densify the company's Western Canada footprint and enhance its ability to offer comprehensive waste management services. The transaction requires shareholder approval and is expected to close in the second half of 2025.

VAUGHAN, ON, Jan. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - GFL Environmental Inc. (NYSE: GFL) (TSX: GFL) ("GFL" or the "Company") today announced the pricing of US$1 billion in aggregate principal amount of 5.500% senior notes due 2034 (the "Notes"), in a transaction that was significantly oversubscribed (the "Notes Offering").
