ABOUT THE ROLE
CoStar is seeking a Residential Economist to support our growing residential Homes.com division. Homes.com is reimagining the home search experience for consumers and agents alike. We empower people to discover homes, share insights, and make connections on their terms – disrupting a multi-billion-dollar industry. Homes.com is the fastest-growing real estate portal in the industry, and we are driven to be number 1!
The Economist will develop and implement a data-driven commentary on the US housing market to promote the Homes.com brand and site authority. The Economist will deliver CoStar’s view and outlook for the housing market through written commentary and by responding to media requests. The ideal candidate possesses extensive housing market expertise, strong communication skills, and a proven record of creating analytic content.
The position can be based in Washington, DC, Atlanta, GA, or Richmond, VA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with CoStar’s team of economists, contribute to developing CoStar’s view of the US housing market. Serve as subject matter expert on all housing themes, trends, and topics
Produce meaningful and insightful written analysis of housing market conditions for the Homes.com platform using Homes.com vast residential data and economic and financial data from our data partners and public sources
Compose regular news articles highlighting housing market trends for CoStar product
Collaborate with CoStar’s market and data analysts to create written content on regional housing trends
With support from CoStar’s PR team, push out data-driven housing market content by providing commentary to national and regional media outlets
Represent CoStar as a speaker at housing industry events and conferences
QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in economics, urban planning, real estate, or related field
Seven or more years of housing market research and communication experience and engagement with the industry and the broader public via publications and presentations
Proven record of written commentary on the housing market, preferably focused on covering housing affordability issues or new homes trends
Effective and engaging presentation skills
Deep knowledge of the US housing market, its players, and its data sources
Strong analytical and writing skills

This position offers a base salary range of $165,000-195,000, based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous bonus and benefits plan
