- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology is required within one month of hire.
- A current registry with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency is required within one month of hire.
- Advanced knowledge of radiation protection, physics, positioning, and image critique is required.
- Extensive computer literacy, including computed radiography, Picture Archiving and Communication System, and Hospital Information System, is required.
- Knowledge of age-related patient care and growth and development principles for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patient groups is required.
- Ability to assess and interpret patient-status data to identify patient needs and provide appropriate age-related care is required.
- Perform radiographic examinations including fluoroscopy, trauma, portable radiography, operating-room procedures, pain-clinic procedures, special procedures, and examinations at the main clinic.
- Perform radiographic procedures using accepted principles and practices.
- Perform defined competencies for as-needed coverage of radiographic procedures at the main clinic.
- Accurately assess examination quality, appropriateness, and results.
- Educate customers by explaining procedures.
- Supervise student technologists appropriately.
- Prioritize work assignments for self and others.
- Complete record entries in the computerized system.
- Assist in maintaining images and other records.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Practice radiology competencies based on current scientific knowledge.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Two years of experience in radiology is preferred.
