Requirements
  • An M.D., D.O. degree, or foreign degree equivalent is required.
  • Eligibility for a Kansas medical license or possession of a current unrestricted Kansas medical license is required.
  • The candidate must be board-eligible for or certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Current or recent experience in active clinical practice is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the OBGYN Clerkship and 4th Year Course Director in overseeing Obstetrics and Gynecology predoctoral education and curriculum, including the third-year clerkship, fourth-year rotations, electives, enrichment opportunities, and other medical student activities.
  • Assist with completing third- and fourth-year course evaluations, grading third-year objective structured clinical examinations, reviewing course descriptions, syllabi and assessments, and reviewing fourth-year rotation requests and applications.
  • Communicate with the medical student curriculum committee and the Assistant and Associate Deans for Medical Education, and assist with implementing and improving the medical student educational program and coordinating institutional policies and educational programs with the University, affiliated clinical sites, accrediting bodies, and national specialty and educational groups.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Medical Education: Clinical Sciences regarding assessment methods, learning objectives, and competencies, and facilitate collection, review, and completion of student and faculty evaluations.
  • Recruit and engage regional educational leaders across campuses to ensure consistent student educational experiences in the Obstetrics and Gynecology curriculum while using site-specific resources and opportunities.
  • Serve on curriculum, special, and task force committees to help prepare students for clinical sciences blocks, provide adequate resources, and map blocks to graduation competencies.
  • Teach faculty, residents, and medical students through lectures and provide regular attendance and presentations at student and resident teaching conferences.
  • Complete evaluations of residents and medical students.
  • Serve on academic, department, and hospital committees as requested by department and division leadership.
  • Support and conduct clinical research and support scholarly activities of the School.
  • Design, write, implement, oversee, present, and publish medical education innovations developed at KUSM for local, national, and international audiences.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor to the KUSM-Wichita Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Student Interest Group.
  • Provide mentorship to medical students and resident physicians.
  • Obtain Wesley Healthcare hospital privileges.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in medical education, including teaching medical students or residents.
  • Experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology education and simulation.
  • Knowledge of Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics Medical Student Learning Objectives.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
