Requirements
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in an applicable health field is required.
  • An Ohio Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Infection Control must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
  • Five years of experience in bedside nursing in an acute care facility is required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Infection Prevention and Control manager in developing, training, and implementing campus Infection Prevention and Control programs across facilities.
  • Act as a knowledge expert in infection prevention and control practices, processes, surveillance methodologies, products, equipment, policies, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Advocate for the safe and timely delivery of care and integrate services supporting best practices for patient care related to infection prevention and control.
  • Perform infection prevention and control surveillance using the EPIC Bugsy program.
  • Analyze healthcare-associated infection cases, document findings, and report findings to facility stakeholders.
  • Place patients with infections warranting isolation into the proper precautions and flag patient charts in EPIC accordingly.
  • Communicate publicly reportable diseases to the appropriate health department.
  • Perform routine department rounding to ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures and share observations with appropriate leadership teams.
  • Participate in facility Environment of Care Rounds and document findings.
  • Approve infection control risk assessments for construction projects, conduct weekly rounding, and complete construction project closeouts in collaboration with facilities management.
  • Assist with developing infection prevention and control educational material for staff and providers.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and providers regarding infection prevention and control questions and concerns.
  • Ensure maintenance of a sanitary facility environment.
  • Participate in facility and system committees as applicable.
  • Mitigate risks associated with patient infections present upon admission.
  • Mitigate risks contributing to healthcare-associated infections.
  • Solve routine to complex situations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Over 2 years of Infection Prevention and Control experience is preferred.
