Responsibilities
  • Deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained in, and consistently delivers Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team performance, provide feedback, hold team members accountable, and recognize positive guest experience moments.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve results, align the team on behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, and elevate the guest experience.
  • Lead daily and weekly workload execution to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting and updating merchandise sales floor displays, sampling, restocking shelves, organizing backrooms, and processing price changes for General Merchandise areas.
  • Educate team members on how merchandise setup and organization, product accuracy, stock levels, and sales floor maintenance affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Assess reporting to identify General Merchandise process gaps and assist in developing plans to resolve them for the direct leader’s review and approval.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligned with business priorities.
  • Help establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to them.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work accurately when applicable, assess fulfillment reporting, identify gaps, and assist in developing improvement plans.
  • Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience.
  • Collaborate with store teams and leaders, including the closing team, to identify priorities and keep the store guest-ready.
  • Stay informed about relevant trends and products and relay Target communications using available tools and resources during team connection moments.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Model onboarding and learning best practices and help close skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Identify team members for future leadership positions and use growth development to build a departmental talent pool.
  • Support guest services, including backup cashier and digital fulfillment processes, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Follow Target policies, safety procedures, and role-specific guidelines, including food safety and pricing; report and correct hazards and hold the team accountable.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, enforcing safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Execute physical security processes and support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage, and application as directed by best practices.
  • Follow safe and secure training and processes when serving as a key carrier, if applicable.
  • Assume store-level Leader on Duty responsibilities during assigned shifts when needed.
  • Address store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
