Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either through American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • CMA certification through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health Career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required for LPN as well.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, exposure to temperature extremes, fine motor and gross motor activities, and other listed physical tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Room patients, take vitals and health history, document in an electronic medical record, give injections and assist with minor procedures.
  • Assist with coordination of patient care among a variety of clinical experts to care for pediatric population.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of patient care experience as a CMA or LPN preferred.
  • LPN experience preferred.
