  • At least 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills are required to pursue new business and manage a significant renewal book.
  • Proficiency in the software needed to succeed in the department is required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
  • Travel and a valid driver's license are required.
Responsibilities
  • Drive profitability, retention, and written premium goals as determined by the department.
  • Manage the underwriting team and/or territory to help achieve departmental goals.
  • Make independent decisions within the underwriting letter of authority and maintain proper file documentation.
  • Assist in developing annual business goals for assigned agents and producers.
  • Analyze results and maintain accountability of agency partners within the department.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and identify emerging threats to the department.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of department products and services.
  • Clearly articulate the department's value proposition.
  • Provide input into strategic annual department planning activities.
  • Participate in training, initiatives, and projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in underwriting is preferred.
  • An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Possession of underwriting and industry designations applicable to the area of specialization is desirable.
