Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer engineering or a related field, or 4 years of experience in a sample preparation role
  • Active DoD Top Secret (TS) or equivalent US Government security clearance
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving laboratory equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work standing for four or more hours each day
  • Willingness to work in a secure US Government facility
  • Experience operating microelectronic test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
  • Ability to solder modern microelectronic components and circuit cards
  • Excellent organizational, engineering, and communications skills
Responsibilities
  • Designs and builds custom cables and wiring harnesses
  • Solders fine pitch microelectronic components
  • Works with the Program Manager to support lab equipment procurement processes
  • Responsible for managing maintenance, inventory, and calibration of electronic equipment necessary for lab operations
  • Works with research staff to design, build, and operate custom test stations
  • Prepares microelectronic devices for testing by machining or making mechanical alterations
  • Responsible for coordinating with Government Safety Officer to ensure the safety of laboratory personnel, equipment, and facility
  • Responsible for coordinating with Government Leadership and Facilities Office to deliver the facilities resources (space, heating/cooling, power, etc.) necessary for the lab
  • Other duties as required
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer engineering or a related field with 4 years of experience in a sample preparation role
  • Experience operating milling machines with sub-mm precision
  • Experience processing semiconductor samples to include milling, griding, or polishing
  • Current certification for soldering electrical components and electronic assemblies
  • Experience working in a microelectronics laboratory
  • Familiar with Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) standards
  • Familiarity with electrical, chemical, mechanical, environmental, and other safety standards for research laboratories
  • Software programming experience - Python, C, etc
  • Interest in solving open-ended problems
