  • Five or more years leading a claims, risk or audit team, including leading people through a significant change to how the work is done.
  • Strong technical grounding in travel or health claims and medical case management, with sound judgement on high-value and complex decisions.
  • Demonstrated use of data to run an operation, including building independent analysis, proficiency in Excel and a reporting tool such as Power BI, and the ability to defend reported figures under executive challenge.
  • Experience as a business owner, product owner or equivalent on a delivery programme, including backlog ownership, user acceptance testing and go-live decisions.
  • Practical experience applying artificial intelligence or automation tools to real operational work, with clear thinking on controls, error tolerance and where human decision-making must remain.
  • Proven vendor relationship management, including day-to-day ownership of a material outsourced or third-party relationship, performance conversations, remediation and holding a position without damaging the relationship.
  • Proven risk, control and audit experience, including defining and testing controls, evidencing failures, documenting findings and completing remediation. Comfortable working with first- and second-line risk partners and with internal and external audit.
  • Strong vendor governance experience, including service levels, scorecards, issue and corrective action tracking, and reporting the vendor's risk position upward with a clear view.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including presenting results and recommendations to senior leaders.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the review of high-value and complex travel claims within the business's approval authorities, and make or endorse decisions on files with financial, regulatory or reputational weight.
  • Set the standard for written reasoning behind claim decisions, particularly when a review changes an earlier outcome.
  • Manage work flow so the oldest and highest-value files are prioritized, and keep the team's open inventory visible and current.
  • Act as the escalation point for claimant complaints, legal and media threats, and regulator enquiries reaching the team.
  • Partner with the Audit and Operations team on the monthly audit programme covering Affinity and Group Benefits travel business.
  • Turn audit findings into process changes, feeding themes into training, the administrator's handling standards and the automation backlog.
  • Own the connection between audit findings and recoveries, and establish the recovery baseline.
  • Contribute to annual audit cycles covering licensing, case fees and recoveries.
  • Build and maintain a live view of intake, assignment wait time, active review time, open work by age and value, overturn rates and audit findings, refreshed automatically rather than assembled manually.
  • Ensure every published figure can be traced to an accessible source, and bring the analysis to monthly operating reviews and executive discussions.
  • Act as the business owner for the Travel Claims scope in the transformation programme.
  • Write and prioritize the backlog, define readiness and completion criteria for the team's process, participate in programme planning, run fortnightly demonstrations, and sign off testing, go-live and the settling-in period.
  • Lead assessment of tools that remove manual effort from claims files, including medical record summarization.
  • Agree with the administrator where automation can handle low-value, low-risk claims and secondary reviews end to end, and define acceptable error levels and required human judgment.
  • Own risk and control oversight of the third-party administrator handling travel claims.
  • Set and document control expectations for the administrator's handling of files, including approval authorities and escalation rules, and test whether controls are operating effectively.
  • Run weekly and monthly operational forums, quarterly and mid-year scorecards, and annual reviews covering licensing, case fees and recoveries.
  • Own the vendor issue and corrective action pipeline from control-gap identification through closure, and maintain a current view of the vendor's risk position for leadership, risk partners and auditors.
  • Extend control, error-tolerance and monitoring discipline to automation introduced into the vendor's claims handling before go-live.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of eight through changes to their roles.
  • Set clear performance expectations, build the team's confidence with data and artificial intelligence tools, and develop the team's bench strength.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience taking a manual process to an automated one while holding or improving quality.
  • Familiarity with fair treatment of customers' expectations, complaint handling and regulator enquiries in a Canadian insurance setting.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and internal expectations for outsourcing and third-party risk in Canadian financial services.
  • Bilingual French and English communication ability to support clients from various jurisdictions, including Quebec.

Manulife Philippines launches Wealth Guarantee Plus with higher, longer guaranteed returns.

Manulife Philippines launches Wealth Guarantee Plus with higher, longer guaranteed returns. Wealth Guarantee Plus provides guaranteed annual cash payouts for seven years and returns the full premium at maturity. Manulife Philippines, the local arm of leading international financial services Manulife today announced the launch of Wealth Guarantee Plus, a limited-time, single-payment life insurance plan designed to help customers secure predictable income while preserving their capital and maintaining life insurance protection. The plan provides guaranteed annual cash payouts of up to 5%[1] for seven years, returns the full premium at the end of the term, and includes life insurance coverage throughout the 7-year policy period, giving customers greater certainty as they plan for future financial needs. The plan offers higher cash payouts over a longer period compared with earlier versions of Wealth Guarantee. For example, a customer who pays a single premium of PHP 3 million will receive PHP 150,000 annually for seven years, with the full PHP 3 million returned at the end of the seventh year. The plan also provides life insurance coverage equivalent to 125% of the single premium for seven years. The launch reflects a broader shift in how Filipinos think about financial planning and legacy. Manulife's Asia Care Survey 2026 found that 88% of Filipinos believe their own independence and financial freedom is the inheritance they want to leave their families, while nine in 10 aspire to remain self-sufficient for as long as possible. As more Filipinos seek ways to fund their future without relying on others, predictable income and capital-preserving solutions are becoming an increasingly important part of long-term financial planning. "Filipino customers work hard to build their wealth, and they want solutions that offer both certainty and confidence," said Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer, Manulife Philippines. "Wealth Guarantee Plus helps meet that need by providing guaranteed annual cash payouts over seven years, full premium return at maturity, and life insurance protection throughout the plan's term. This reflects Manulife's commitment to helping Filipinos protect what they have built, plan with greater confidence, and achieve clear, dependable financial outcomes at every stage of life." With returns guaranteed by the policy and not dependent on market performance, Wealth Guarantee Plus gives customers greater certainty over their income for a defined period. This can help them plan more confidently for key financial goals, from education funding to retirement income and other long-term needs. Wealth Guarantee Plus requires a minimum single premium of PHP 300,000 and is now available through Manulife financial advisors nationwide. 1 The 5% rate applies to single premiums of PHP 3 million and above. A 4.75% rate applies to single premiums below that. Guaranteed payouts and premium return are payable for as long as the insured person is living.

Manulife Asia, Ant Health team up on cross-border healthcare.

Manulife Asia, Ant Health team up on cross-border healthcare. Manulife Asia signed a memorandum of understanding with Ant Health, Ant Group's health business, in Hong Kong on September 7 to explore cross-boundary healthcare support, health management services, and insurance technology for customers in Hong Kong and mainland China. The companies said they will explore case management, concierge support, medical network services, patient services, and cross-boundary claims and payment support. They may later extend the collaboration to other Asian markets. For Manulife, the MOU builds on an existing cross-border setup. Its Hong Kong business expanded a designated mainland China hospital network in 2023, and the insurer also operates in both Hong Kong and mainland China. The move also fits broader Greater Bay Area efforts to support cross-border healthcare integration. Authorities have issued guidance on cross-border personal data transfers that could affect digital claims, payments, and health management services. Recent Manulife developments.
