Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sports Medicine from an accredited university.
  • Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
  • An unrestricted state license, registration, or certification in an applicable regulated U.S. jurisdiction to provide healthcare within the scope of practice for Athletic Trainers.
  • A passing score from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.
  • A National Provider Identifier.
  • An active Basic Life Support certification from an American Heart Association or American Red Cross approved course.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant Athletic Trainer work experience within the last five years.
  • Experience developing and executing environment-specific functional injury control and health and well-being programs for groups of athletes.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • The ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Current physical and immunizations.
  • The ability to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms or 45 pounds.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with trainees, staff, and other Athletic Trainers in English, orally and in writing.
  • The ability to operate a computer using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • The ability to maintain current certification and licensing requirements and keep CAF documentation up to date.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned units at the brigade, battalion, or company level.
  • Provide forward musculoskeletal care, early medical intervention, injury prevention, and performance optimization services in fitness centers, unit areas, outdoor settings, ranges, field training environments, and the Soldier Performance Readiness Center.
  • Provide medical treatment under the supervision of a privileged government healthcare provider.
  • Observe brigade- and below-level training events such as shooting ranges, obstacle courses, and combative training areas.
  • Hike austere environments and terrain while occasionally carrying a backpack with necessary supplies.
  • Participate in government-based education and in-service training mandated by the local installation.
  • Engage in continuing education programs to meet Athletic Trainer license or certification renewal requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school, collegiate, or professional sports, military, performing arts, and/or occupational health.
  • Past staff administration or management experience is preferred.
