Requirements
  • Licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association
  • Registered Nurse license issued by Missouri Division of Professional Registration or an RN license issued by a compact state
  • For multiple states: RN license in Illinois, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin issued by respective regulatory bodies or RN compact license accepted where applicable
  • Must meet minimum education and licensure requirements as stated in the job posting.
Responsibilities
  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment including age-appropriate admission or transfer assessments and documentation
  • Establishes, coordinates and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab data, tests, procedures, physician orders, protocols and standards of care
  • Provides and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs, plan of care, and changes in patient status, including collaboration with health team members and accurate handoff communications
  • Administers and documents medications accurately according to policies and procedures; monitors IV fluids and parenteral nutrition according to policies
  • Completes referrals as indicated by assessment data; requests consultations for special needs, equipment, or information for patient and/or family; provides patient/family education and discharge planning per guidelines
  • Clarifies physician orders as warranted; acknowledges and implements physician orders in a timely manner; assists physician with procedures or delegates to Care Partner as appropriate; documents readback for telephone/verbal orders; takes telephone/verbal orders only in emergencies
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and takes appropriate nursing actions; involves family in care and decision-making as appropriate; incorporates infection control practices into daily care
  • Documents and communicates nursing care and changes in patient condition; performs ongoing evaluation of effectiveness of care and patient education; modifies plan of care as needed; reports significant changes to physician and others as indicated; supports problem resolution and occurrence reporting per policy
  • Provides specialized care to high-risk patients including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment with appropriate documentation and adherence to policy
  • Demonstrates accountability for professional practice including adherence to quality standards, ongoing learning, currency with policies, and participation in governance, committees, and professional development
  • Participates in performance improvement, evidence-based practice, age-appropriate care, cost-effective services, and safety and infection control practices; contributes to unit goals, performance improvement initiatives, and nursing quality indicators
  • Engages in professional interactions with coworkers; orients/precepts new staff; acts as a resource; effectively communicates plan of care; delegates appropriately; maintains confidentiality and handoffs; supports teamwork and collaboration
  • Ensures safety/infection control by following standard precautions, hand hygiene, safe patient handling, and maintaining a safe environment; completes annual mandatory requirements and required training
