The new JV will be independently operated and focus on leveraging late-pipeline to commercial-stage technology from its parent companies to amplify both companies' ability to develop, register, and market the resulting products, which may be commercialized independently by one or both parent companies. What Corteva's Arkansas AG settlement means for loyalty and rebate programs. LinkedIn Facebook X On August 14, 2026, Corteva, Inc. agreed to pay $3.1 million to settle an antitrust lawsuit brought by the Arkansas attorney general (AG) alleging that the pesticide maker's rebate and loyalty programs functioned as de facto exclusive dealing arrangements that suppressed competition from generic pesticide manufacturers. Background and the Arkansas AG's claims. The Arkansas lawsuit did not arise in isolation. It was one of several enforcement actions challenging distributor loyalty programs used by Corteva and Syngenta. In September 2022, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and a bipartisan coalition of state AGs filed an enforcement action alleging that the companies paid distributors to limit purchases of competing generic pesticide products. Three months later, Arkansas filed its own separate action asserting similar theories of anticompetitive harm under federal and state law. The central allegation was that crop input distributors received payments only if they kept their purchases of competing generic pesticides below a certain threshold. According to the Arkansas AG, these loyalty programs functioned as de facto exclusive dealing arrangements by discouraging distributors from purchasing competing generic products. The complaint alleged that these arrangements allowed Corteva to maintain monopoly or market power in several crop-protection markets and resulted in farmers paying inflated prices. In March 2024, the Arkansas AG amended its complaint to expand the scope of the case by adding additional products. In February 2025, an Arkansas federal judge rejected Corteva and Syngenta's attempts to have the case dismissed. The court concluded that the complaint adequately alleged that Arkansas consumers paid higher prices for crop-protection products as a result of the challenged loyalty programs and exclusive dealing arrangements. Corteva Biologicals Argentina introduces Rezist for fruit and vegetable crops. Aug. 25, 2026 Corteva Biologicals Argentina has introduced Rezist, a new technology for fruit and vegetable crops designed to prepare plants to respond more effectively to disease pressures before infections occur. The Rezist formulation contains 1% salicylic acid, copper, zinc and manganese, combining a plant-defense elicitor with micronutrients that support physiological and antioxidant processes associated with the defense of crops. Rezist is positioned as an elicitor or resistance-inducing technology, rather than a conventional fungicide. Its approach is based upon activating the plant's own defense mechanisms and reducing susceptibility to disease, allowing it to be incorporated into existing crop protection programs. "With Rezist, we propose a change in the way crop health is approached. Instead of waiting for the disease to appear before acting, we prepare the plant beforehand so it can respond better when the challenge arrives," said Ana Scarso, Fruit & Veggies Argentina Product Manager at Corteva Biologicals. Activating the plant's natural defenses The technology is based on the role of salicylic acid as a signaling molecule in plant defense. According to Corteva researchers, salicylic acid can act as an elicitor, activating mechanisms associated with Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR) when plants detect pathogen pressure. This response involves the activation of defense-related genes and increased production of pathogenesis-related proteins, phytoalexins, antioxidant enzymes and other compounds involved in strengthening the plant's natural barriers. Rezist seeks to reproduce this signaling process through the application of its formulation, creating a state of physiological preparedness before disease pressure becomes established. Copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and manganese (Mn) complement the formulation by acting as micronutrients and cofactors associated with antioxidant and defense responses. "What Rezist does is simple but powerful: it gives the plant an early warning signal so that it is better prepared when it needs it most," Scarso said. Under the international classification of the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC), resistance-inducing products of this type fall within Group P - Host Plant Defense Induction. Not a conventional biological input Although Rezist is part of Corteva Biologicals' portfolio and is inspired by plant physiology, the technology should not be classified as a biological input on the basis of the information provided. Rather, Rezist's active strategy relies on salicylic acid and mineral micronutrients, instead of living microorganisms or biological agents. This distinction is particularly relevant in fruit production, where growers are increasingly looking for strategies that can complement or reduce reliance on conventional fungicides while maintaining disease-management efficacy.
