- The candidate must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state where care is provided.
- The candidate must have previous experience in hospice management.
- The candidate must demonstrate commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.
- The candidate must successfully pass background checks and a drug screen.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of the Plan of Care for each patient and family.
- Lead and supervise weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and orienting clinical staff.
- Supervise and evaluate clinical staff according to performance standards in written job descriptions.
- Ensure the competency of nursing staff.
- Cultivate relationships with nursing home staff.
- Participate in budgeting for patient-care expenses and monitor expenses related to patient and family services.
- Participate in state and national hospice organization activities.
- Serve as a resource and liaison for patient-care providers, social workers, the volunteer coordinator, and the bereavement coordinator.
- Participate in ongoing education programs.
- Maintain familiarity with Hospice policies and state and federal regulations pertaining to nursing services.
- Participate on Quality Assessment Performance Improvement committees and in special projects.
- Develop management skills through individualized studies, in-service sessions, seminars, and videotapes.
- Plan and participate in in-service training for hospice staff and community services.
- Share responsibility for supervising the on-call position.
