Requirements
  • High School Diploma required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record required
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
  • Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and sensory acuity sufficient to perform duties
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and support to individuals and groups of psychiatric patients
  • Assist with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and milieu management
  • Organize and implement therapeutic group activities in collaboration with program staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of psychotropic medications, including desired and side effects
  • Recognize changes in patient mental status and promptly report findings to the primary nurse
  • Assist with nursing admissions and supplemental care components
  • Utilize therapeutic skills in crisis intervention
  • Foster collegial and professional relationships with peers, patients, and families while promoting a culturally sensitive environment
  • Safely transport youth and families as needed for program-related activities, ensuring adherence to RUMC’s safety standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • BS or 60 college credits toward a degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an acute care psychiatric setting preferred
  • CPI or PMCS certification preferred
