Real Chemistry launches new advisory practice to elevate pharma's corporate brand reputation. Real Chemistry unveiled its new advisory practice, focused on corporate communications and reputation, in advance of the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference. Real Chemistry has launched a new advisory practice that will seek to offer guidance to healthcare and pharma companies from a corporate communications and reputation standpoint. The agency unveiled the advisory, dubbed RC Resolve, in advance of the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference next week. It will focus on the intersection of science, policy, risk management and corporate communications - an area that pharma companies have recognized as increasingly important since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Jennifer Gottlieb, global president and head of integrated communications at Real Chemistry. "Pharma companies realize they can't just rely on doing communications about each individual product, and that consumers are starting to see them as a company that they need to have a relationship with," Gottlieb explained. RC Resolve launched with three goals, Gottlieb noted, including being an advisory team that's solely focused on healthcare and bringing in a team of executives with experience on the pharma client side. It also aims to incorporate Real Chemistry's data and analytics expertise alongside a proprietary suite of tools including ReputAI and HealthGEO. ReputAI is a reputation measurement and predictive message-testing suite that's designed to manage tough reputation situations and crises, according to Gottlieb, that "measures the back end of reputation and works to improve the trust your organization has with its stakeholders." HealthGEO, which Real Chemistry launched last year, is its generative engine optimization (GEO) tool which helps marketers understand how their companies and brands are showing up in AI platforms and large language models (LLMs). The tool allows marketers to understand where misinformation about their brand may be coming from, and gives them pathways to clarify and fix how it's being perceived. RC Resolve will be manned by several executives who come with communications and reputation experience from the pharma client side, including Bridget Walsh, who will serve as head of policy, public affairs and access. Previously, Walsh served in government affairs and policy leadership roles at Pfizer and Boehringer Ingelheim. Amy Atwood, who previously worked as vice president, U.S. and global corporate communications at Takeda, will serve as RC Resolve's head of transformation and change management. Other appointments include Piper Evans, head of corporate strategy and reputation, who previously worked at McKinsey and the Public Affairs Council. Gottlieb pointed to the external pressures occurring in the healthcare industry in recent years - from biotech funding ebbing and flowing, drug pricing debates, and conversations about healthcare access in the U.S. compared to other countries. As a result, the role of the chief communications or chief corporate affairs officer has become increasingly important in the pharma industry, notes Sherry Pudloski, group president at RC Resolve and corporate affairs at Real Chemistry. "We are mirroring the need of the executive who sits at that table - who is responsible for the external environment and internal environment - and being there to serve his or her needs," Pudloski said. "We want to partner with that person to help guide their executive team on how to make wise multi-stakeholder decisions." That includes battling misinformation in an era where science messaging can be beleaguered by external and political forces. "Clarifying the mis- and disinformation, and making sure that patients are continuing to get the shortest road home to the information they need to get to the best care possible, will continue to be our North Star," Gottlieb said.
