Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required for hire.
  • PC knowledge and interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient access or a similar field is required.
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills are required.
  • The ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide non-medical support to patients, clinical care team members, referring providers, payers, and the organization.
  • Provide accurate, up-to-date information regarding products, services, and procedures, including surgery, radiation therapy, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, transplant coordination, and endoscopy.
  • Help patients understand complex medical information related to their healthcare journey within the organization.
  • Schedule accurate appointments, surgeries, procedures, and admissions.
  • Collect accurate demographic and insurance information to support clinical and financial needs.
  • Perform full registration duties when needed, in addition to scheduling and coordination activities.
  • Carry out precertification and financial counseling when needed using knowledge of insurance and payer approval options and software.
  • Provide ongoing support and effective communication to physicians, clinical team members, patients, and patient support systems.
  • Coordinate requests and organize and communicate information clearly and concisely.
  • Lead by example.
  • Use multiple electronic medical record platforms and scheduling, imaging, registration, document management, medical imaging, communication, work queue, and payer systems.
  • Assist the Lead and Access Management with training and support for new staff and student interns when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate’s Degree is preferred.
  • At least 4–6 years of experience in a healthcare setting, revenue cycle department, or customer service role is preferred.
  • Experience with Cadence, Optime, Aria, Ambra, and medical terminology is preferred.
  • The ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, management, and reporting is preferred.
