Requirements
  • At least 4 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or a hybrid data and commercial role, with demonstrated ownership of a company's core reporting and data quality function.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern data warehouses, including Databricks; Postgres experience is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining dashboards in Sigma or a comparable modern business intelligence tool such as Looker, Mode, or Tableau.
  • Demonstrated ability to reverse-engineer and document complex, multi-source data models.
  • A track record of turning data into business decisions rather than only reports.
  • Experience serving as the final point of responsibility for data accuracy in a business with multiple workflows and complex source data.
  • Ability to operate as a single point of ownership across a business without a business intelligence team beneath the role.
  • Ability to push back on requests and establish trust with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Own the business's data graph, including what data exists, where it lives in Databricks and Postgres, how entities relate, and what each field means in practice.
  • Serve as the single source of truth for data accuracy and data quality across the business, catching errors before they reach dashboards or clients.
  • Partner with data engineering and engineering on data model design, pipeline issues, and structural changes while maintaining data-quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation of data lineage, definitions, and known caveats.
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting in Sigma across all areas of the business.
  • Own all client-facing reporting, including scoping and accuracy sign-off for every client data deliverable.
  • Act as the intake point for data and reporting requests, triaging, scoping, and prioritizing them.
  • Understand the underlying business question and decision before building an output, and reshape requests when necessary.
  • Translate data into commercial insight, including what happened, what it means, and what action to take.
  • Work directly with leaders in operations, litigation, and finance to develop and act on data insights.
  • Proactively identify patterns, risks, and opportunities in the data.
  • Present findings in a way that drives decisions and adoption.
  • Establish and enforce data-quality and validation standards across reporting and dashboards.
  • Build a process with data engineering to identify and resolve data discrepancies before they surface downstream.
  • Set and enforce the standard for production-ready reporting across the business.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Postgres.
  • Healthcare, insurance, or claims data experience.

The Public Interest Company

View

The Public Interest Company is a technology-enabled services firm that helps health plans, risk-bearing provider groups, self-funded employers, and public sector organizations recover funds that should have been paid by third-party insurers. It combines artificial intelligence, a proprietary legal-tech platform, and external data to identify and pursue third-party liability across all claim sizes, handling the entire recovery process so member care isn’t disrupted. Unlike others that rely on a single approach, the firm blends machine learning (classification, pattern mining, rules-based systems) with legal information to spot recovery opportunities that might be missed and manages the process for its clients on a fee-for-success basis. Its goal is to lower healthcare costs and improve clients’ profit margins by returning funds to fund patient care.
