Responsibilities
- Maintain communication with county, district, and administrative staff to support understanding of the county program.
- Identify, recruit, train, and utilize local volunteer leaders serving on committees, clubs, and organizations.
- Use evaluation data and program outcomes to interpret program impacts to elected officials, key leaders, and stakeholders.
- Conduct interpretation events for county and state elected officials to report program accomplishments and outcomes.
- Develop long-range and annual professional improvement plans with the appropriate administrators and regional program leaders.
- Participate in formal and informal training to increase knowledge and skills and maintain technical competencies.
- Recruit, employ, train, and conduct related activities for secretarial and paraprofessional personnel the agent supervises or jointly supervises.
- Conduct annual performance reviews with assigned support staff or coordinate reviews with staff members sharing supervision responsibilities.
- Plan with committees, task forces, groups, and organizations to conduct educational programs and activities.
- Develop comprehensive, in-depth, and outreach program plans addressing base programs, critical issues, and clientele needs.
- Plan evaluation strategies for in-depth programs and significant program activities.
- Coordinate programming efforts with the total staff.
- Implement planned educational programs and activities in assigned program areas.
- Support and assist with educational programs led by other staff members.
- Provide leadership or support in educational programs addressing critical issues and emerging needs.
- Use varied teaching methods, strategies, activities, and materials in educational programs.
- Comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the agency's affirmative action plan when conducting educational programs.
- Use evaluation strategies to determine progress toward county program objectives.
- Use evaluation results to revise and modify programs.
- Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports and in-depth program summaries describing program accomplishments and impacts.
- Coordinate and collaborate with agencies, groups, and organizations to plan educational programs.
- Work with Extension-sponsored groups, including 4-H clubs, Texas Extension Education Association clubs, and master volunteer groups, to increase participation and strengthen programs.
- Maintain a neat office that facilitates effective working conditions.
- Stay informed about Extension policy, research reports, and publications applicable to program responsibilities.
- Participate in county staff conferences to coordinate plans, activities, and joint work.
- Assist with maintaining files, mailing lists, membership rolls, and inventories.
- Comply with the agency's Equal Employment Opportunity Program.
- Cooperate with the county coordinator and staff in developing and implementing a county EEO Action Plan.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Work closely with agriculture producers and commodity organizations in the county.
- Possess or develop subject matter expertise in relevant crops, horticulture, and livestock production.
- Provide leadership for agriculture and natural resources 4-H project areas as required.
