Requirements
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Meet faculty credentials outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area of instruction.
  • Meet the applicable School of Technology technical course standard through one of the listed qualification routes.
  • Possess a Department of Labor, Bureau for Apprenticeship Training recognized journeyman’s card directly related to the credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record, and have held journeyman status for at least two years with specifically related experience, where this qualification route is used.
  • Possess specialized certifications required for the class as indicated in the Curriculum of Record, where applicable.
  • Have five years of directly related work experience specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record, where this qualification route is used.
  • Possess a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to the course objectives, where this qualification route is used.
  • Have or be willing to obtain the corresponding Automotive Service Excellence certification for the course to be taught.
  • Conduct activities with appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and support a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner and comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, laboratories, and all learning environments.
  • Conduct all responsibilities within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
