Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10–20 years of experience in structural/bridge design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency in structural design for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete components.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards.
  • Background in managing projects for state transportation agencies (Maryland DOT experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple assignments in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design and management of bridge projects, from concept through construction.
  • Prepare contract documents, specifications, and bid packages; provide oversight during construction phase services.
  • Monitor project schedules, scopes, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
  • Direct and mentor design engineers and CAD/drafting staff.
  • Collaborate with subconsultants and internal teams to maintain coordination across disciplines.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, presenting technical solutions clearly and effectively.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and design calculations.
