Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in an automotive, robotics, or similar industry
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers on root cause analysis techniques, engineering best practices, and engineering development processes
  • Proven track record of comprehending, analyzing, and interpreting sophisticated business and technical requirements
  • Excellent management and leadership skills and the ability to empower and work with and through others to achieve desired results
  • Steadfast focus on understanding, prioritizing, and solving user needs
  • Ability to understand and successfully communicate technical concepts

Responsibilities
  • Define organizational vision and manage a team of engineers to ensure that we deliver high-quality vehicles to all internal customers, through system level bring up of next generation platforms
  • Translate that vision into a strategy and efficient processes that continuously improve the quality and timing of activities. Ensuring that partner teams understand and align with what we are doing and why
  • Be the leadership liaison between the VLE team and external engineering teams to resolve issues, across Cruise, General Motors, and third-parties
  • Reliably communicate progress and issues to Hardware Senior Leadership
  • Design and develop systems to ensure an efficient and effective workflow
  • Implement change control processes to minimize disruptions to the workflow
  • Work with various collaborators to develop tools for tracking, reporting, and diagnosing issues; build automation capabilities where possible
  • Work with OEM partners and Cruise engineers to drive continuous improvement into the design, operation, and maintenance of the AV based on key findings
  • Serve as a technical guide for engineers conducting root cause analyses on sophisticated issues affecting hardware, software, integration, and the vehicle system
  • Ability to evaluate organizational structures and processes and implement measurable improvements through targeted change initiatives
