Requirements
  • Professional background will include previous post-admission experience of 3-6 years, with the majority spent at a leading international law firm or in-house at a fund or financial institution. In-house secondments are an advantage but not a prerequisite.
  • Significant experience in fund co-investment transactions.
  • Additional experience in private equity and venture / growth equity including knowledge on market terms is helpful.
  • Strong technical legal and commercial skills and experience advising portfolio managers.
  • Ability to oversee and effectively manage outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Solid organizational skills and the ability to work with others and manage multiple time sensitive matters in a demanding, fast-paced and fluid environment.
  • Must be fluent in English.
Responsibilities
  • Take a lead role in the legal coverage of BlackRock’s fund co-investment platform (which includes a mixture of investments via fund structures and those made directly into companies through minority investments or participation in fundraising rounds).
  • Assist, as needed, in the coverage of BlackRock’s private equity, growth equity and venture capital investment platforms.
  • Act as lead transaction counsel on deals, managing transaction execution and reviewing / negotiating a full range of deal documentation.
  • Manage external deal counsel, in conjunction with the investment team, and work closely with portfolio managers and internal BlackRock teams during the execution of transactions;
  • Organize training sessions for the business and keep abreast of key market terms and conditions.
