Under general supervision, performs administrative support and assistance to all Pretrial Services program functions within the Justice Services Department. Provides a high level of administrative support, requiring confidentiality, special terminology, and exercise of independent judgment, with more complex problems or questions referred to supervisory staff. Reports to the Pretrial Services Manager.

Job Description
Client Relations - 30%
Answer telephone calls and receive inquiries in person, providing information based on knowledge of Pretrial Services or the department programs and activities, or refers callers to appropriate personnel, as necessary; routes messages to personnel, as necessary; assists adult and juvenile defendants ordered to Pretrial Services supervision to include completing intake paperwork. Serve as a first point of contact for persons entering the Pretrial Services office.
Administrative Support - 60%
Establish and maintain a variety of tangible files, filing and retrieve written or electronic information as requested or otherwise necessary. Utilize computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and/or file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information as requested or otherwise necessary. Utilize county, judicial, state databases to obtain criminal history and status information about criminally charged defendants.
Sort incoming mail according to prioritized need of attention; open mail, route and distribute as appropriate; and prepare outgoing mail as necessary.
Review with and furnish information to defendants on reporting instructions for next court date and/or for ongoing pretrial supervision purposes.
Assist in preparation of daily bail bond hearings. Document and report outcomes for Manager as needed. Input outcomes into relevant data management systems.
Meetings & Trainings - 10%
Assist in processing documents related to the assessment and/or supervision of defendants.
Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, and lectures, as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field of Pretrial Services and alternative to incarceration-type correctional services.
Attend staff meetings
Perform other related work as required.

Required Qualifications
Required Education
Experience Qualifications
2 years of full-time administrative support/clerical experience in an increasingly responsible position.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of organization, programs, events and operations of the department and the County.
Knowledge of arithmetic, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Knowledge of modern administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, managing files and records, designing forms, filing techniques, operation of a variety of electronic and manual office equipment and other office procedures and technical terminology.
Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with defendants as well as with various county, court and other public officials with differing levels of authority and influence and the general public; establish and maintain effective working relationships with judicial officials, county employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
Work harmoniously with offenders and with other Department, County and Court personnel.
Comprehend frequently used terms in criminal justice systems; process and enter large volumes of data into various databases, interpret data and effectively use common software applications; query local and state databases.
This position is non- exempt compensation to determine FLSA status from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
