Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience and knowledge of applied mechanical engineering design, analysis, and verification of mechanical systems are required.
  • Working knowledge of finite element analysis using ANSYS or other multiphysics simulation packages is required.
  • Knowledge of industry and academic practices and standards related to mechanical design and fabrication in a product environment is required.
  • Experience with mechanical tools, including hand tools, fabrication tools, and measurement equipment, is required.
  • Experience with solid modeling packages such as PRO/E is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze superconducting magnets and components used in magnetic resonance imaging systems.
  • Participate in and lead prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Provide design leadership for productivity and quality projects, including product cost and life-cycle quality or reliability improvements.
  • Support current magnetic resonance system installed-base designs, address field issues, and drive site issues and investigations to closure.
  • Develop component and assembly geometry from product specifications and requirements, specify materials, and establish acceptable performance standards.
  • Perform complex calculations, analyses, and testing to verify assumptions and performance.
  • Complete and execute engineering project tasks independently with minimal oversight.
  • Seek senior and peer review of project and engineering work to ensure accuracy and rigor.
  • Engage in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction, and service support.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and component and assembly models using two-dimensional and three-dimensional computer-aided design software, including calculated dimensions and tolerances.
  • Prepare engineering change requests, engineering change notices, bills of material, engineering specifications, and customer change requests.
  • Direct the construction and testing of prototypes and pilot units, and analyze test results.
  • Interface directly with manufacturing employees to clarify questions on drawings and designs.
  • Assist manufacturing in troubleshooting production issues on standard and special products.

  • Two to three years of experience working with Pro/ENGINEER or Creo for mechanical engineering design of medical products.
  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes related to metal fabrication and welding.
  • Understanding of mechanical design and pressure vessel standards.
  • Experience with numerical analysis tools and optimization methods.
  • Hands-on hardware experience with mechanical systems and components.
  • Paper-to-product experience with the ability to read and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

GE HealthCare secures CE mark for Photonova Spectra photon-counting CT system

GE HealthCare has received CE mark approval for its Photonova Spectra photon-counting computed tomography system, enabling commercial sales in markets recognising CE marking. The clearance follows US Food and Drug Administration approval and Japanese regulatory clearance in March 2026. The system uses GE HealthCare's Deep Silicon detector technology to deliver ultra-high definition spectral and spatial imaging. It processes data volumes up to 50 times greater than conventional CT systems, utilising Nvidia's accelerated computing platform. Clinical collaborations are underway at UZ Brussel in Belgium and Rigshospitalet in Denmark to evaluate the system across cardiology, neurology, oncology and musculoskeletal imaging. The CE mark follows more than $5 billion in innovation investment by GE HealthCare.

GE HealthCare launches three new Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound systems for diverse care settings

GE HealthCare has introduced three new cardiovascular ultrasound systems to its Vivid portfolio: Vivid Explorer 1, Vivid Advanced 1, and Vivid Focus 1. The systems were unveiled at the European Society of Cardiology Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany. Each system targets different clinical settings whilst sharing a common technology foundation with the ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer. Vivid Explorer is designed for high-volume echo labs, Vivid Advanced for mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices, and Vivid Focus for everyday cardiac imaging. All three systems use cSound imaging technology and include AI-enabled automation tools to streamline echo workflows. GE HealthCare launches Invenia ABUS Prime and StreamVue for breast cancer screening

GE HealthCare has launched Invenia ABUS Prime and ABUS StreamVue, expanding its breast imaging portfolio with solutions for supplemental screening in women with dense breasts.
